Connect a domain

Use a web address you already own, like www.yourbusiness.com, for your InMinutes website. Step-by-step DNS setup in plain words.

Every website comes with a free address like yourbusiness.inminutes.app. On a paid plan you can also use your own domain, such as www.yourbusiness.com. It looks more professional and is easier for customers to remember.

You have two options:

I own a domain: you already bought one (for example at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains/Squarespace or Cloudflare). This page shows you how to connect it.
Buy a new one: search for a domain and buy it inside InMinutes. It's set up for you automatically. See Buy a domain.

Custom domains are available on every paid plan (Starter, Pro and Business). Remember to publish your website so there's something to show on the domain.

#Open the domain setup

You can start from any of these places:

In the editor, click Publish, then Add domain.
Go to Settings → Domains and click Set up custom domain next to your website.
On the Websites page, open the website's ⋯ menu and choose Connect domain.

In the Set up your custom domain window, choose I own a domain.

#Connect a domain you own

Type your domain

Enter your domain, for example yourbusiness.com, and click Connect. If you type the main domain (or its www version), InMinutes sets up both yourbusiness.com and www.yourbusiness.com for you.

Copy the DNS records

InMinutes shows a short list of DNS records. Think of them as signposts that tell the internet your domain should open your InMinutes website. Each record has a Type, a Name and a Value, with a copy button next to it.

Add the records at your domain provider

Sign in where you bought your domain and open its DNS settings (sometimes called DNS management, Zone editor or Advanced DNS). Add each record exactly as shown: same type, same name, same value.

Check verification

Back in InMinutes, click Check verification. When everything is found, the domain shows Live and verified, and your website opens on your own address.

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to spread across the internet. If it isn't verified yet, wait a while and click Check verification again.

#About the records

CNAME for www: this is the most important record. It points www.yourbusiness.com to your website, and it works with every domain provider.
TXT records: these prove the domain is yours and let us set up the secure padlock (HTTPS) for you. Add them exactly as shown.
CNAME for @ (marked Optional): @ means your main domain without www. Only some providers allow this (it may be called CNAME flattening, ALIAS or ANAME), for example Cloudflare and Namecheap. If yours doesn't (like GoDaddy), skip it and instead set up domain forwarding from yourbusiness.com to www.yourbusiness.com in your provider's settings.

If you already have a record with the same name (for example an old www record from a previous website), edit or remove the old one. InMinutes warns you with Existing DNS record needs updating when it spots a conflict.

#Change or remove your domain

Open the domain setup again to see its status. Click Visit to open your website on the domain, or Disconnect to stop using it. After disconnecting, your website is still available on its free inminutes.app address.

#Troubleshooting

It still says Pending DNS

DNS can take up to 48 hours. Double-check that each record's name and value match exactly, with no extra spaces. Some providers add your domain to the name automatically, so type www, not www.yourbusiness.com, in the name field.

My main domain (without www) doesn't open the site

Your provider probably doesn't support the optional @ record. Set up forwarding from yourbusiness.com to https://www.yourbusiness.com in your domain provider's settings.

It says the domain is already connected to another site

A domain can only point to one website. If it's connected to another of your websites, disconnect it there first. If you don't recognize it, contact support.

My email stopped working

Only add the records InMinutes shows you. Don't delete your MX records: those deliver your email and aren't used by your website.
