How to Migrate a Wix or WooCommerce Store in 2026 (Step by Step)

A practical guide to migrating a Wix or WooCommerce store to Shopify or an AI store builder: what moves automatically, what doesn't, and how to protect SEO.

How to Migrate a Wix or WooCommerce Store in 2026 (Step by Step)

Store migrations fail in boring ways: product images that vanish when the old plan is cancelled, Google links that land on 404s, and a checkout nobody tested. None of it is hard if you do it in the right order.

Quick answer: To migrate a Wix or WooCommerce store, export your products and content, import them into the new platform, recreate redirects from old URLs, test checkout, then move your domain — and only cancel the old plan after images are re-hosted. Shopify's Store Importer and paid migration apps suit large catalogs. For small stores, InMinutes can scan a WooCommerce site by URL (or take a Woo, Shopify, or plain product CSV such as a Wix export) and rebuild the store and site with AI — free on every plan to import, Pro to sell.

What actually moves in an ecommerce platform migration?

Products move well; customers, orders, and SEO need deliberate work.

  • Usually automatic: product names, descriptions, prices, variants (size, colour), SKUs

  • Sometimes automatic: product images (often still pointing at the old platform's servers), blog posts, pages

  • Usually manual: customer accounts and passwords, past orders, gift card balances, reviews, app data, URL redirects

  • Always manual: payment setup, tax, shipping rates, policies, and testing

Where should you move your store?

How do you migrate a WooCommerce store?

WooCommerce is the easiest to migrate because its product data is open.

  1. Export products: in WordPress go to Products → Export and download the CSV (include all columns)

  2. Export posts: Tools → Export → All content (a WordPress XML file), if you have a blog

  3. List your URLs: download your sitemap or crawl the site so you have every product and category URL

  4. Import: on InMinutes, paste your store URL — products come in through WooCommerce's public Store API, with variants and prices, and WordPress posts come in as blog posts. If the Store API is switched off, upload the product CSV instead

  5. Re-host images before you cancel hosting

  6. Rebuild redirects (old product URL → new product URL)

  7. Test checkout, then switch the domain

How do you migrate a Wix store?

Wix doesn't offer a full export, so you combine a product CSV with a content rebuild.

  1. Export products: in your Wix dashboard, Store Products → Export to CSV

  2. Save content: copy page text, download images, note your policies and contact details

  3. Import: on InMinutes, upload the CSV — it has name and price columns, so products import as a basic catalog; re-add variants that didn't carry over. Paste your Wix URL and the AI reads your business details, images, and colours to rebuild the site

  4. Recreate shipping, tax, and payment settings

  5. Redirects + domain: point your domain at the new store and redirect important old URLs

How do you migrate without losing SEO?

Keep URLs mapped, content intact, and the old site live until the new one is indexed.

  • Map every important old URL to its new URL; apply 301 redirects wherever your domain or old host allows it

  • Keep product names, descriptions, and page titles close to the originals at first

  • Submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console the day you switch

  • Watch Search Console for 404s for 2–4 weeks

InMinutes gives you an old-URL → new-URL report after import so nothing is forgotten. It doesn't apply custom 301 redirects for you yet, so for stores with valuable ranking pages, set them up where your domain is managed.

Migration checklist

  • Products, variants, prices, SKUs imported and spot-checked

  • Product images re-uploaded to the new platform

  • Blog posts and key pages moved

  • Shipping rates, tax rate, and policies set

  • Payments connected and a real test order placed and refunded

  • Redirect map applied for top URLs

  • Domain switched; sitemap submitted

  • Old plan cancelled only after everything above

The bottom line

A clean store migration is mostly order of operations: export, import, re-host images, redirect, test, switch, then cancel. Big catalogs belong on Shopify with a migration app; small WooCommerce and Wix stores can be rebuilt in an afternoon with an AI store builder.
